Mr. Clarence M. Faulkner Jr., BComm, MBA (Hons) is the Founder and Managing Director of PMI. He has worked in the Pension and Investment field for over 20 years.
Prior to PMI, he served as the Investment Manager of the BVI Social Security Board. His responsibilities entailed the day-to-day management and administration of the Territory’s Retirement Portfolio of Assets. This involved the establishment of investment policies, strategies and the identification and ongoing due diligence of key Service Providers to achieve the stated objectives. He took up the management of the Board’s assets valued at $98M in 1999 which grew fourfold to $404M under his watch.
Mr. Faulkner’s expertise and passion in the areas of Pensions and Finance is recognized locally, regionally and internationally. He served as the Vice-Chairman of the International Social Security Association Technical Commission (“ISSA”) on Investments based in Geneva, Switzerland. ISSA is a governing body charged with providing policies and guidelines to the World on the overall management of respective Social Security Organizations. He was also selected, by the Heads of the CARICOM Regional Social Security Systems, to chair a committee responsible for identifying the most feasible methods of pooling resources for investment outside of the Caribbean Region.
Mr. Faulkner currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of the Virgin Islands.
Mr. Faulkner is also a part-time lecturer at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill School of Business where he lectures on the management of Social Protection Funds.
Mr. Faulkner holds an MBA (Hons) in Finance from Wright State University of Dayton, Ohio and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with dual majors in Accounting and Finance from St. Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
He is also featured in the 2010 edition of Business BVI as one of the “Captains of Industry” and authored, “Protecting Our Nest Egg”, The Social Security Board’s investment strategy in the 2009 edition of the same magazine. Mr. Faulkner was awarded the 2011 Atlantic Connection “Pathfinder Award” for his “Contribution to Global Fiduciary Education and Fiscal Responsibility”.
